The restrictions last month temporarily limited visitors to a maximum of two adults over age 18 due to an increase of flu cases reported statewide. Regular visitation policies are now in effect.

All visitors should continue to follow standard flu precautions, including good hand hygiene. Friends, family and other visitors to patients in Duke Health facilities are asked to stay home if they have flu-like symptoms such as sneezing, coughing or a fever.

Anyone over the age of six months who does not otherwise have a contraindication is eligible for the vaccine, which remains readily available.

Patients and visitors with questions about the temporary restrictions should feel free to ask any member of the patient’s care team for more information.
